Cristina Andrés Iglesias

Tenure Track Assistant Professor

Affiliations

- Tenure Track Assistant Professor, Department of Agricultural Engineering, Food Technology Division, University of Valladolid.

Profile

Cristina Andrés Iglesias is Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the Food Technology Area at the Universidad de Valladolid. In 2015 she earned her PhD at the Universidad de Valladolid, receiving the International Mention, cum laude distinction, and the Extraordinary PhD Award with her thesis “Chemical characterization of differential sensory compounds in alcoholic and non-alcoholic lager beers. Effects of dealcoholization process.”
Her research career combines expertise in chemical engineering, analytical chemistry, and biochemistry, with a strong focus on medical devices development and evaluation. After early postdoctoral work in chemical engineering focused on polymers, biorefinery and advanced chromatographic analysis, she joined the Instituto Universitario de Oftalmobiología Aplicada (IOBA) in 2018, collaborating in more than 30 projects on the safety, biocompatibility, and functional evaluation of ophthalmic products.
From 2022 to 2025, she was Director of the Medical Devices Area at Vision R&D, leading her own Torres Quevedo Fellowship project (PTQ2021-011880). During this period, she secured 120,000€ in private funding and 240,000€ in public funding, coordinating multiple research projects on biomedical product innovation, product development, preclinical evaluation and regulatory compliance. In addition, she serves as a technical expert for ISO TC 172 / UNE CTN91 and contributes in European initiatives on Medical Devices Regulation, and the Spanish Network for Inflammatory Diseases (REI).
